A man has been arrested and charged following a string of break-and-enters on Heavy Tree Road in St. John’s.
The RNC were called about three separate break-ins between 4:00 and 4:15 Saturday morning.
After responding to the first incident, police discovered a single-vehicle crash along the same stretch of road.
They say the abandoned vehicle, which had been reported stolen, fled from police after they tried to pull it over earlier in the night. It was believed that the driver was the same suspect from the break-and-enter.
During the third break-in, there was a physical altercation, after which the suspect fled on the homeowner’s bike. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Police dogs were used to track the suspect to Robert E. Howlett Drive, where the man was arrested after a brief struggle.
Police say the suspect, who showed signs of impairment, initially provided them with a fake name but was later identified as 31-year-old Christopher Connors.
Connors is now facing a list of charges including robbery with violence, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of breaking and entering, three counts of theft under $5,000, and refusal.
He was held for court.
