Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, causing schools to consider changes in the ways in which greetings are exchanged.
Some schools have already sent out memos outlining how valentines will be handled in the midst of a pandemic.
Some are asking that valentines be submitted to the teacher several days ahead of time so that they can be distributed, while others are avoiding the exchange of valentines altogether and planning different types of events to mark the occasion.

According to the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, public health has not yet developed any formal guidance for the distribution of Valentines.
She says they’ve had their hands full and Valentine’s Day hasn’t been high on the priority list, but she’s sure there is a way that it can be done safely, noting they will put guidance up on their website.
