The effects of vaccine shipment delays are going to be directly felt by elderly residents of Labrador.
Yesterday, Moderna announced that it would be cutting the number of doses shipped to Canada next week by about one quarter due to production delays.
Due to this, Labrador-Grenfell Health has postponed its plans to vaccinate residents 75 years of age and older. That rollout was to focus on central and western Labrador and the Northern Peninsula.
The health authority was originally going to start taking bookings for vaccinations on Monday, with vaccinations beginning the following week.
That process has now been postponed and will be rescheduled as soon as vaccine supply allows.
They say more information regarding the vaccine rollout will be made available in the coming weeks.
