Talks between Grand Falls-Windsor and the union that represents its workers have reached an impasse with a possible work stoppage on the horizon.
Negotiations between the town and CUPE Local 1349 began last October, but the two sides have been unable to reach an agreement.
Job action could begin as early as June 30.
In a letter to residents, Mayor Barry Manuel says there has never been a proposal by the town to decrease staffing, wages or benefits.
He says many of the changes proposed by council are strictly language-based, involving clarification on previously negotiated items and updating the agreement to be gender-neutral.
