A video of two women speculating about some mysterious lights in the night sky over Carbonear has garnered international attention.
The video, by Anne Carpenter, shows about five lights moving along in the sky on June 25 while she and her sister, Brenda, debate what the lights could be. In one part of the video Chubbs suggests that they could be Chinese lanterns, but that is quickly shot down by her sister who claims that they are too big.
The viral video was picked up by the New York Post and tagged as a potential UFO sighting. However, Carpenter believes that coverage is less about a potential alien encounter and more about their commentary and Newfoundland accents. According to her, people have been commenting on how thick their accents are and she loves it.
