Two American luxury yachts docked in St. John’s Harbour have been allowed in the province under Canada’s rules for repositioning.
The superyachts Pursuit and Legacy attracted some attention from onlookers on the waterfront over the weekend.
Both vessels are said to be owned by the DeVos family, owners of the Orlando Magic, and fly under the flag of the Cayman Islands.
According to the Canadian agent for the yachts, under Canada’s current repositioning rules vessels are allowed to dock in the country for necessary reasons such as picking up provisions or refueling, while they are travelling from one international destination to another.
They say that all Newfoundland and Labrador health provisions have been followed, and all crew remains in quarantine aboard the vessel.
The vessels are said to be waiting for a good weather window to leave port.
