The creators of the popular Netflix series ‘Frontier’ have branched away from film and television for a foray into the comic book genre.
Rob Blackie and Peter Blackie are usually found on film or television sets preparing to take the shot. These days, the two brothers have teamed up with artist, Daniel Maine, for an enthralling sci-fi adventure comic book called “Clans Of Belari”.
The story, published by Aftershock media, follows a young orphan girl who ends up with a crusty space pilot for a series of intergalactic adventures.
It’s their first time writing a comic and the two were pleased to have an opportunity to learn the rhythm of storytelling within the medium.
Rob Blackie says while writing comics is very different from creating television shows, there is some common ground between the two.
Blackie says they are accustomed to working with a narrative through the use of a series of images when they are working in film and television. He says the comic writing process was similar in that way and they felt very much at home.
The first issue in the series is now on store shelves and fans will have an opportunity to meet the authors and have their own copy signed today at Timemasters Inc, on Hamlyn Road, St. John’s from 2:00-4:00 pm.
