The three levels of government announced more than $2-million in funding yesterday to replace St. John’s paratransit vehicles.
The paratransit fleet of buses used in the GoBus service in St. John’s and Mount Pearl will be replaced, with Metrobus buying up to 18 new accessible paratransit vehicles.
St. John’s South MP Seamus O’Regan says the new buses will ensure users continue to have access to the services they need.
Ottawa is investing more than $1.1 million in the project through the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.
The province’s share is just over $755,000, while the City of St. John’s is contributing more than $377,000.
