Ocean Choice International is outfitting its fish plant in Fortune with new automated technology.
The equipment includes a water jet cutting system as well as skinning and deboning technology that will improve productivity and efficiency. The new technology will also open new retail opportunities for Ocean Choice, as the company will be able to meet the expectations and specifications of retailers.
President Blaine Sullivan says they are always looking for ways in which to improve their operations through new technology, such as the new yellowtail flounder automation system.
The project will help sustain 75 jobs at the plant and significantly extend the operating system for employees in the Fortune operation.
The addition will result in significant volumes of yellowtail flounder—which is harvested by hundreds of crewmembers employed on OCI vessels throughout the year—being processed at the plant.
