Radio station VOWR is still assessing the damage and working through the insurance system following the lighting strike on their tower.
Station manager Doreen Whelan says, in all likelihood, the transmitter was damaged beyond repair. They are still broadcasting online at vowr.org and occasionally on Stingray’s local New Country station CJYQ 930 AM.
Whelan estimates they will still need about $30,000 even if insurance fully covers the loss.
She says, realistically, it’s going to be three or four weeks before they get back on AM radio.
We are flooded with messages looking to help restore VOWR's 800AM service. If you would like to assist, go to https://t.co/OdHFyNFQ9o and the "Donations" tab. If you are unable to help in this way, that's okay. Just keep listening. We'll be back in full swing as soon as possible. pic.twitter.com/XXlahhxHZm
