Residents of Mount Pearl are welcoming back a familiar feathery friend to a local pond.
Power’s Pond is home to a variety of wildlife, including two Embden geese who have been in the area for quite some time. However, some residents were dismayed when they discovered that one of the geese had gone missing earlier this year.
The city says a volunteer stepped up and took the goose in for rehabilitation after it was injured. A spokesperson says the city checked in with the resident to ensure that they had appropriate space, expertise, and qualifications to care for the animal. This week, the bird was brought back home.
The city celebrated the bird’s return on social media, sharing photos of the goose as it quickly rejoined its pondside companion.
Welcome back to our feathery friend! You were missed by many. After some rehabilitation, we are pleased to see a happy and healthy goose return to their home at Power’s Pond today! 🦢#WelcomeBack #GoosePower pic.twitter.com/8x1KQDGiEf
