Thanksgiving weekend is upon us, and public health officials are putting an emphasis on curbing the spread before carving the turkey.
Acting Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Rosann Seviour, says Thanksgiving gatherings pose a significant risk of spread as people are gathered inside and sharing food.
Further, she explains that there is the added risk of unvaccinated children running around the house as well.
Because of this, Public Health is asking that gatherings be restricted to no more than 20 people.
She says that limit will have an impact on transmission of the virus if it is introduced into a house, it will help ease the strain on acute care capacity, and it will make contact tracing easier.
