“Be a hero. Aim for zero” is the theme of Operation Impact which is being launched this Thanksgiving weekend.

The traffic enforcement initiative is focused on what police call the four most significant factors which lead to serious and fatal collisions – impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

This year’s theme is part of a federal Road Safety Strategy 2025: Towards Zero, the goal of which is to make the country’s roads the safest in the world.

Drivers across the province can expect to see an increase in traffic enforcement and checkpoints over the long weekend.
