A section of the Trans-Canada Highway on the west coast is expected to reopen on Monday following last week’s washouts.
The province says some repairs have been completed and the highway will reopen north of Little Paradise Park, with traffic reduced to one lane in some areas. An update is expected on that by noon Monday.
Motorists are reminded to obey traffic control and watch for heavy equipment and crews working in the area.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure says it expects areas near the Port aux Basques weigh scales and at Little Paradise Park to reopen to traffic mid-week.
While repairs continue, the public is asked to follow the advice and direction of emergency officials and stay away from the damaged areas.
Officials say doing that will allow crews to finish their work and reopen the highway faster.
