A landmark made famous by Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers’ Saltwater Joys is in need of repair, and Charlottetown Recreation is hoping the public will rally around and donate to the cause.
Roxanne Weinheber is on Charlottetown’s Local Service District and is spearheading the fundraising effort.
She says Clayton’s Wharf was severely damaged in a storm several years ago, and is well past the days when Wayne Chaulk observed the gulls like flies circling above.
“It’s too bad it’s been overlooked,” she says in terms of repairing the famous wharf, “but I think it’s time now to do it.”
The fundraiser will be accompanied by a fun contest, testing the skills of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
Weinheber travelled across the island with two elves – “Rambling Ronnie,” and “Wandering Willy” – taking pictures of them at various locations that people following her Facebook feed will be asked to identify.
