The first of the awards for MusicNL Celebration week were handed out last evening at the industry reception.

Eight industry awards and two honorary awards were handed out.

Linda Byrne was given the Unsung Hero Award, while Jim Payne received the Industry Builder Award.

VOCM’s Greg Smith was named media person of the year.

Showcases begin tonight with a show at the Rock House on George Street. All music awards will be presented at the awards gala this Saturday night. Details can be found at MusicNL’s website.
