A proposal to develop three apartment buildings with over 200 units of student housing will be back before St. John’s city council later today.
The proposal by WerkLiv would see the apartments developed on the back of the Aquarena, on the doorstep of MUN’s St. John’s campus.
One of the biggest concerns with the development was parking. The buildings would be situated in an area often overflowing with students looking for parking at the height of the fall and winter semesters.
In response, the company has revised its plans to allow for 55 on-site parking spaces, with the possibility for more being added once the project reaches the detailed design stage.
At today’s meeting, council will vote on whether to accept amendments related to the proposal. If approved, a commissioner’s public hearing will be set for the end of March.
