The province is celebrating Team Gushue’s win at the Tim Horton’s Brier in Lethbridge, Alberta.
The game wrapped up in the wee hours, but thousands of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians stayed up to watch the team, reduced to three players after Mark Nichols was forced to isolate after testing positive for COVID-19, defeating Team Alberta 9-8 in extra ends.
The congratulations were pouring in on VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly this morning.

Meanwhile, Team Gushue is sharing video of the moment when they dropped the cup off outside Mark Nichols’ hotel room where he’s isolating. The team jokes with Nichols telling him to put his mask and pants on as he opens the door to see the Brier cup sitting outside.
The boys are going to get some rest after one of the most memorable Brier’s in the history of the event. But they have one more major stop on the circuit first—Las Vegas and the world championship.
