The House of Assembly resumed its spring sitting this afternoon, after a two-week break.
With the budget and a myriad of other topics already on the agenda, all hands were poised for a raucous Question period.
And while there were a few spirited encounters on Bay du Nord and what may or may not be in Thursday’s budget, that was all overshadowed by news delivered before and after.
Namely, receipt of the Rothschild report on what assets government should or shouldn’t unload, as well as the Auditor General’s pending review of MUN’s money management, which Education Minister Tom Osborne said president Vianne Timmons has welcomed.
Meanwhile, on the COVID front, Health Minister John Haggie says the province is at or near the peak of the current spike in cases and deaths.
He says the good news is that the number of health care workers in isolation has dropped below 600 — about half of the number from last week.
