A walk in support of the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador took place on Sunday.
The rain was not enough to stop a large crowd from participating in a walk and social event at Westbury Estates in Southlands.
People of all ages came out in support of the event, enjoying food, live music, and games in order to raise money for Alzheimer’s awareness.
The President of Fort Amherst Healthcare, Mike Powell, says the funds raised— about $36,000—will be a huge help as the Alzheimer’s Society is currently at a $60,000 funding shortfall.
Powell says that donating isn’t the only way people can help the Alzheimer’s Society. He says volunteering your time to the organization is just as important as donating.
