The provincial government has marked Provincial Francophonie Day by raising the NL francophone flag at Confederation Building.
A ceremony, hosted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Francophone Federation, was held Monday to coincide with the occasion.
Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, Sarah Stoodley says there is a “very large” French population in the province, and it’s important to recognize days such as Francophonie Day and to make sure that steps are being taken to protect French heritage and culture. As an example, she says her department is always looking at ways to increase French services available online.
