The Atlantic salmon angling season opens today on the island and June 15 in Labrador.

Salmon licences will be available at gas stations, convenience stores and major chain stores.

Anglers are being reminded not to practice intentional hook and release in water temperatures over 18 degrees Celsius, not to remove salmon from the water and to avoid touching or handling salmon unless absolutely necessary.
