The province’s Privacy Commissioner is recommending that the Premier’s Office conduct a more thorough search for records related to recent Access to Information requests.
Michael Harvey says the Premier’s Office received three requests for records related to a dispute between the complainant, a municipality and Crown Lands.
The Premier’s Office indicated that it had no responsive records, but during the Privacy Commissioner’s investigation, it advised that it had located records, but considered them not to be responsive to the requests.
Harvey concluded that the Premier’s Office was mistaken in its characterization of the records and had not done a reasonable search. He is recommending that the Office of the Premier conduct a more thorough search and provide any additional records to the complainant.
