Hundreds of delegates from across the country are getting down to business this weekend as the National Union of Public and General Employees holds it’s triennial convention in St. John’s.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees, the province’s largest public sector union is a member of NUPGE.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says it’s the first time since 1990 that Newfoundland and Labrador has played host to the convention.
Among the items on the agenda are austerity, privatization and issues that affect women and the LBGTQ+ community.
