The province’s Privacy Commissioner has ruled that the Office of Women and Gender Equality has to release certain records requested via access to information after they say the office refused to comply with the commissioner’s requests.
The documents in question are related to “an employment issue.”
They say the office provided the records to the complainant, with some information redacted.
During the investigation, the office refused to provide the withheld information to the commissioner for review.
As well, they declined to participate in an alternate process of providing a description of the information and an explanation of how the exception applied.
As a result, commissioner Michael Harvey recommended that the information be provided.
