Teams from this province recently captured some major awards at the 2022 MATE ROV World Championships in Long Beach, California.
Memorial University’s Eastern Edge Robotics team placed third overall and was awarded Best Engineering presentation in the Explorer category for post-secondary students. The team was made up of more than 30 students from the Marine Institute and the faculties of Applied Science and Science and Engineering.
Meanwhile, Mount Pearl Senior High’s Husky Explorer Team received Best Engineering presentation in the Ranger class, the Guts and Glory Award and Most Valuable Player honours for team member Eric Goulding.
The teams were among 20 international teams competing in this year’s event.
