Firefighters in St. John’s battled a fire at the city’s Robin Hood Bay dump today.
It broke out shortly after 1:30 this afternoon, with numerous crews from several stations responding.
Extra firefighters were brought in to switch out teams due to the hot weather.
Black smoke, which eventually turned white due to fire suppression efforts, could be seen from all areas of the city
As of late Sunday afternoon the fire was reportedly contained and under control.
