A prime tourist destination is facing a fuel shortage, and the mayor says the problem is nothing new.
Twillingate Mayor Justin Blackler says the town has just one gas station and the operators are doing their best to keep the fuel flowing, but demand this time of year is high.
He admits that the recreational food fishery has an impact with greater demand for gas on the weekends as people fuel up their boats. That, combined with a busy tourism season, makes for high demand but Blackler says shortages have occurred at other times of the year as well.
