A parent is urging both sides in the ongoing strike in Mount Pearl to resolve their differences so that recreational and sport programming in the city can resume.
Desiree Newhook lives in St. John’s, but her children attend a day camp operated by a not-for-profit in a city-owned building in Mount Pearl.
She says crossing the picket line is something she’s not comfortable doing, but her children need the programming provided.
She also worries about organizations and non-profits that are being affected.
She wonders how non-profits who rely on Mount Pearl spaces will survive, some of whom have had to shut down their summer programming and now are looking at the possibility of having their fall programs interrupted. She also wonders about the impact on other children and families who rely on sport, recreation, and child care programming.
