RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor seized a dozen vehicles over the long Labour Day weekend.
On Friday, police hauled six vehicles over between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the area of the town. The six were charged with various traffic violations including driving without registration, insurance, or with a suspended licence. All six vehicles were sezied.
That same afternoon, police pulled a 54-year-old driver over on Harris Avenue, where he blew over two-and-a-half times the legal limit. His vehicle was taken and he will answer to charges of impaired driving at a later date.
The next evening around 5:00 p.m. police were following a car when a strong smell of cannabis came from the car. The 40-year-old driver tested positive for cannabis on a roadside drug test and was arrested. That same evening, three more men in the Botwood, Bishops Falls and Grand Falls-Windsor were arrested and had their vehicles impounded due to impaired driving.
Finally, before midnight Saturday night, police pulled a car over on Carmelite Road, where a 50-year-old driver failed a roadside test. His vehicle was seized.

Meanwhile, RCMP took another man’s vehicle after catching him travelling at excessive speeds in Lumsden on Tuesday.
A 29-year-old driver was caught going 148 km/h in a 50 km zone. The driver was ticketed, had his licence suspended, and his vehicle impounded.
