A GoFundMe account has been set up to help people left homeless following a fire Saturday on Shea Heights.
The blaze broke out around 2:30 in the afternoon in an end unit of townhouses on Druggett Place.
Firefighters were initially informed there were people trapped inside but all three, including an infant girl, along with two dogs, escaped without injury.
The Canadian Red Cross says they’re helping seven people from two families displaced by the blaze, which also caused smoke and water damage to a second, attached home.
Meanwhile, in addition to the GoFundMe effort, a public appeal has been made for immediate needs on behalf of the Walsh family from the home where the fire started — everything from shoes and underwear to groceries.
The fire has been especially hard on them, following the 2016 fishing tragedy which claimed the lives of both Keith Walsh Sr. and Jr.
The urn containing the ashes of Keith Walsh Jr. was also saved from the blaze.
It’s not yet clear how it started.
