The provincial government is adding another incentive to help attract physicians to rural and remote parts of the province.
The new Salaried Family Physician Remoteness Bonus has been developed between the provincial government and NLMA to address problems in recruiting physicians in certain areas of the province.
The bonus amounts for salaried family physicians range between $11,000 and $17,000 dollars depending on the remoteness of the location, and will be paid annually.
It’s the latest in a sequence of signing bonuses and incentives announced over the last few weeks.
Meanwhile, another health care announcement is coming tomorrow.
Premier Andrew Furey will be joined by a number of government officials including Finance Minister Siobhan Coady, Health Minister Tom Osborne and Eastern Health officials for the announcement at the Collaborative Team Clinic on Pippy Place in St. John’s tomorrow.
VOCM News will be there.
