The annual radiothon in aid of the Ronald McDonald House is set to hit the airwaves this afternoon.
The facility has provided nearly 1,700 families and sick children with accommodations and other services in the past ten years.
Executive Director Christina Morgan says it takes a lot of money to keep the facility running and it’s gotten more difficult as inflation has skyrocketed in recent years.

She says it costs around $239 a night to host a family at the Ronald McDonald House, which comes to about $1.3 million annually. Rising costs mean they have to continue fundraising on a regular basis.
The Ronald McDonald House Radiothon, which takes place this afternoon at the Avalon Mall from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., will be broadcast on the VOCM Big Land FM Radio Network (12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in most parts of Labrador).
