A man was nabbed by police in St. John’s following a chase which began on Empire Avenue in St. John’s at about midnight.

The RNC tried to pull him over in a pickup but he stepped on the gas instead. After a short pursuit, the truck came to a stop on Curling Street. Not ready yet to call it a night, the 32-year-old jumped out the window and ran from the scene. Officers caught up with him on Codroy Place in the west end.

He has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and for having a driver’s license which expired in 2013.

More charges are anticipated as the man awaits a court appearance today.
