There will soon be a new way to get around in the City of St. John’s.
Pedego Electric Bikes on Water Street opens its doors on May 16 for people to rent an e-bike to dart around the capital city.
Pedego bikes were founded in 2008, but are relatively new to Newfoundland and Labrador.
Owner Mike Hall says e-bikes are a great way to see more of the city and the nature that surrounds it.
He says the bikes are fairly easy to ride and do not take as much effort as a regular peddle bike.
Hall, who also works in the tourism industry, says a common complaint from visitors is the lack of accessibility when it comes to cycling but he’s hoping to change that with Pedego.
He says not only will it benefit visitors, it will also improve transportation infrastructure for residents. Twenty bikes are available for rental, and bookings can be done through an app. All people have to do is head down to the shop and pick-up their bike.
