RCMP and the Canada Border Services Agency recently partnered on an investigation that led to the seizure of weapons and the arrest of at least one person, with charges expected.
The person, who is from CBS, was arrested on May 3 as part of a joint investigation involving the federal RCMP Serious and Organized Crime Unit in St. John’s, the CBSA Investigations Section, Canada Post inspectors and officers with the RNC and RCMP.
No further information on the individual has been released by police.
Eight silencers, destined for a residential address in CBS were intercepted and seized by the CBSAs Greater Toronto Area Commercial Operations District between April 11 and April 20. The joint investigation was launched as a result and one person was arrested a couple of weeks later.
A search of the home resulted in the seizure of 25 firearms. The person has been released from custody and the investigation continues with charges expected.
