A bland and grey retaining wall in downtown St. John’s has been reinvigorated with a new mural.
The city officially unveiled the new piece of art on Tuesday. It’s located on Harvey Road, just behind The Rooms.
St. John’s contributed $19,500 for the project, while the provincial government provided $24,500 through the Come Home 2022 Cultural Funding Program.

Artists Molly Margaret and Lilly Taylor digitally created the work of art over a number of months.
Margaret says the mural is around 250 feet long and follows a day to night, or night to day perspective depending on which way the person is travelling.

She says it feels great to see the artwork now on display, and hopes people feel a sense of “welcoming” when looking at it.
Margaret says they wanted to include a lot of diversity in the piece and a lot of different locations with the hope that there’s something in it for everyone.
