It is peak tourism season for the province and many operators are relying on the busy season to help combat a number of challenges.
Hospitality NL Chair Deborah Bourden says business has picked up for the summer for most, but there are still issues facing operators.
Bourden says first and foremost is air access. She says the issue is being looked at by the province, the City of St. John’s and the Board of Trade, alongside Hospitality NL. All wish to see improved air access.
She says next to access, servicing debt is the biggest challenge. She says many operators are struggling with the debt they took on to get through the pandemic.
Bourden says the tour bus industry has rebounded and the cruise industry is slowly coming back.
