The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is honouring some of their most coveted hockey players and coaches of all time.
The jerseys of six local hockey stars were retired last week during a ceremony celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium.
Those recognized include 1971 Montreal Canadiens draft pick Terry French, Brian Casey, former Hamilton Red Wings star Terry Ryan Sr., four-time Herder champion Don Howse, and Tony White, who was selected by the Washington Capitals in the tenth round of the 1974 NHL draft.
Behind the bench, Stan Coffin was recognized for his efforts as General Manager for the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts—a team that won five Herder trophies and an Allan Cup Championship under his leadership.
