The Baseball NL Provincial Championship season continues this weekend with the 2023 Molson Coors Junior A Provincial Championships on the west coast.
The defending champs, St. John’s Caps, the Mount Pearl Blazers and the Corner Brook Barons are all battling it out July 21-23 at Jubilee Field in Corner Brook.
Executive Director of Baseball NL, Ryan Garland, says it’s just one of a number of major tournaments in the province over the last few weeks.
They’re just coming off the successful Mike Buist Invitational Classic in St. John’s, with the Gerry Murphy Invitational in Paradise this coming weekend, with the recent Mary Tavernor Tournament in Corner Brook that was well attended.
Garland says baseball is growing right across the province, and the popularity of the Toronto Blue Jays is just one reason why.
He says some of it can be attributed to the success of the Blue Jays, but more importantly, it’s about their dedicated base of volunteers who are working hard to make their programming what it is.
