The popularity of baseball in Newfoundland and Labrador continues to grow, placing greater demand on fields—especially those with lighting.
A limited number of fields in the capital city region have lights.
The Executive Director of Minor Baseball with Baseball NL, Kristyn Coley, says a greater number of young people are getting involved in baseball, especially young girls, and they’d love to see more facilities with lights, especially for younger players.
She says they’re always looking toward new facilities to meet the needs of groups especially with the push to include a female baseball program at the Canada Games. They’ve developed a U16 female team but right now they don’t have a facility for that age group.
