The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating after human remains were found in a wooded area near Windemere Road in Goulds.
Police were first called to the area shortly after 10:00 Sunday night.
An extensive search effort had been ongoing in the weeks leading up to the discovery for a missing man, though police are not saying if the two investigations are connected.
The RNC is working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death and to identify the remains.
