Weeks ahead of Halloween, a Newfoundlander is sinking her teeth into the world of horror.
Producer Katie Lambe, a native of St. Lawrence, alongside her partner, writer/director Anthony Buziak, are part of the team launching the new short film Abhorrent, which the duo hopes to share with film festivals across Canada, and in Katie’s home province.
Described as an eco-horror chill-fest that serves as a love letter to monster movies of the 80’s and 90’s, Abhorrent tells the story of a small communities reckoning by a force force they unknowingly created.
Buziak shared that, while tackling limitations of a low budget short film, the creators aim to have as much practical effects as possible, with every cent of the funding going back into the project and it’s ever growing team.
Abbhorent is set to be shot on Treaty 6 Territory in Saskatchewan, with organizers launching a Kickstarter campaign to help aid in funding the ever growing and dedicated crew.
Lambe hopes to be able to come back to Newfoundland in promotion of the film, hopping on its thriving film festival circuit. She shares they have ideas in mind for an island-centered project in the future.
