The Premier is not tipping his hand as to the timing of the by-election in Fogo-Cape Freels but the campaign has unofficially begun.
The by-election will fill the vacancy created with the passing of Derrick Bragg.
Bragg’s former Executive Assistant, Dana Blackmore, New-Wes-Valley Mayor Mike Tiller and Dover Mayor Tony Keats are all vying for the Liberal nod in the district.
The specifics of the nomination voting next Saturday afternoon are expected to be released tomorrow.
The Tories and NDP have yet to call for nominations.
Premier Andrew Furey says he does not yet have a date in mind for the by-election.
He says the level of interest in the candidacy for the Liberal Party shows him a belief in what they are trying to achieve for the province and in what they have put forward. Furey says, above everything, is making sure that Derrick’s memory is respected throughout the process.
