Donations at the Community Food Sharing Association are few and far between this time of year, even though demand remains high.
General Manager, Tina Bishop, says they receive a high volume of donations around Christmas, which lasts them for a couple of months after the holidays.
Donations slow down drastically in the winter months and by the time spring rolls around, the shelves are looking pretty bare.
Bishop says their supplies become depleted this time of year and there is a dire need for donations to help them provide for the numerous food banks they serve.
This Sunday, VOCM is teaming up with the Newfoundland Growlers and the Newfoundland Embassy for Pack the Pub in support of the Community Food Sharing Association.
Bishop says any donations made at the event will be a tremendous help to those in need.
“The Pack the Pub event in March is a phenomenal boost to the food banks [and] Community Food Sharing Association,” says Bishop.

Meanwhile, the Newfoundland Growlers jumped at the opportunity to partner with VOCM for the Pack the Pub event.
VP of Revenue and Growth Jonathan Loder says it’s the first time the team has been in town on St. Patrick’s Day, but didn’t have a game to play. That allows them time to give back to the community.
He says the players can’t wait to help out with Sunday’s event, and maybe take in some of the St. Paddy’s Day celebrations afterwards.
Pack the Pub takes place at the Newfoundland Embassy on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Embassy now and during the event.
Monetary donations can also be made online at vocmcares.com
