The long-awaited 164-bed Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook will open to patients starting June 2.

The hospital will include a number of health care services including medical imaging services which will include a second MRI, two extra ultrasound machines and an additional cardiac echo machine.

The facility will include an additional endoscopy suite, while the mental health units include more family spaces, a fitness room, relaxation room and outdoor terrace.

Space will be available for 24 dialysis patients, an increase to the current 15.

Chemotherapy spaces will increase from 10 to 15.
