St. John’s Sports and Entertainment has released some financial information regarding a resolution agreement with Deacon Sports and Entertainment following the Growlers’ brief eviction from Mary Brown’s Centre in 2021.
The city had previously refused to release some information in the statements, which include the three year period from 2019 to 2021, because they believed it would be harmful to financial and economic interest of SJSE.
However, a recent supreme court decision is requiring the city to release the unredacted version of the documents.
Specifically, they reveal payments made to Deacon as part of a $1.29-million resolution agreement.
Of that money, $600,000 was paid to the company for expenses related to the eviction.
The rest of the money went to other matters related to the lease agreement, including over $546,000 for new LED ring signage -over half of which was paid to a third party, and $141,000 as per the cash flow schedule related to the naming rights for the facility
Councillor Ron Ellsworth will speak with media about the information at 3 p.m. today.
