An update on the federal government’s plans for the recreational food fishery this year will soon be released.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans released the results of their food fishery survey last month – with most respondents wanting to see dates extended beyond just weekends.

Metro area MP and Fisheries Minister Joanne Thompson says more information on how government plans to act on what they heard will be made available in the coming weeks.

She says they are finalizing their decisions now, and she reaffirms her commitment to have information out by mid-May.
