The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs kicked off their annual conference in the capital city today.
Over 200 women are taking in the two-day conference at the St. John’s Convention Centre as they look to start and grow their businesses.
The theme this year is “The Future is Now.”
NLOWE CEO Jennifer Bessell says this is an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to network, share experiences with one another, and learn from cutting-edge panelists on a variety of topics.
Each topic this year will have a futuristic spin, and will look at how the workforce is changing, how they way entrepreneurs’ work is changing, and how that impacts women entrepreneurs as they pursue their passions.
Premier Andrew Furey delivered remarks to open the conference. He spoke to the importance of this year’s theme.
Furey says the province has established an aggressive industrial and economic agenda for the future. He says conferences like this are crucial as women entrepreneurs will contribute to shaping the future of Newfoundland and Labrador.
