A young woman, who was already prohibited from driving, is facing a number of charges after failing to pull over for police on the Bonavista Peninsula.
RCMP received a report about a prohibited driver spotted in Bonavista on Monday.
Patrol officers located the vehicle on the highway near Melrose and were able to identify the driver as a 23-year-old woman who was prohibited from driving.
They attempted to pull her over, but she sped away at speeds well above the posted speed limit.
Police did not pursue the driver, but later located her at a home and arrested and charged her with flight from police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited and breach of a probation order.
The vehicle, which was uninsured and unregistered, was seized. She’s scheduled to return to court tomorrow.
